Pawnee is a cultivar of Big Bluestem in Nebraska. Pawnee Big Bluestem plants grow waist high or more with deep green leaves and tall seed stalks. Pawnee Big Bluestem is tolerant of a wide range of soils. The leaves are very nutritious for cattle and is excellent for forage. Pawnee is a winter hardy variety with maximum growth obtained in mid-summer and maturity reached in late summer.
