Chewings Fescue
Festuca rubra commutata
A long-lived, often used as a low-maintenance lawn species. It works well for lawns in heavily shaded areas. Chewings Fescue requires less frequent mowing and watering than Kentucky Bluegrass or Perennial Ryegrass and is often used on golf course roughs. Germination occurs in approx. 14 days. Similar to Creeping Red Fescue but with a more upright growth pattern. Not alkaline tolerant.
