Sporobolus airoides

A bunchgrass that grows between 1-3’ tall. It occurs normally in areas with precipitation above 8”, and is found in all of the western states from 2,500ft up to 8,000ft in elevation. Makes fair hay when cut during or before flowering. It is tolerant of both drought and periodic flooding. Deep densely fibrous root system that responds well to irrigation and is resistant to erosion.
