Blue Grama is a short (6”-20”), drought tolerant, tufted grass. It tends to be more of a sod former in northern states, and a bunch grass in the southern states. It can be found up to 9,000 ft. in elevation. It is easy to recognize by it’s eyelash looking seed head and blue-ish colored leaves when young. A quick germinator with good winter-hardiness. Blue Grama is widely used for range, pasture, reclamation, and low-maintenance turf. Blue Grama is the Colorado state grass.
