A short-lived, easily established, fire and drought tolerant, short-growing bunchgrass. Adapted to a wide variety of soils in the 8-18” precipitation range. Often grows with shadscale saltbush, juniper, and sagebrush in dry zones up to 14,000ft in elevation. Seedhead has a brushy appearance, especially when dry. Fair forage value.
