A low-growing, drought tolerant, spreading sub-shrub that normally grows 8-20 inches tall. Rapid growing. It is normally used to stabilize soils and to reclaim disturbed areas. Gardner saltbush is found usually occupying sites that are harsh and arid with widely fluctuating temperatures and high winds. Can be found in elevations to 7,000 ft. Some Native American tribes used Gardner Saltbush for food and seasoning.
