A long-lived, introduced, creeping legume. A higher growing form of white clover usually found in elevations under 6,000 ft. Very winter hardy but susceptible to winterkill in areas with dry winters. Does not tolerate saline or alkaline soils or droughty conditions. Does best with 18”-30” of precipitation. High quality feed, often planted with other grasses. Seldom sown in pure stands because of the difficulty to harvest and cure for hay, and to reduce bloat hazard. It is usually planted in pasture mixes at about 1# per acre. Good for attracting wildlife and bees.
