A short-lived (3-5 years) bunchgrass with good seedling vigor and rapid establishment. A valuable species for re-vegetation in areas with 10 inches or more of precipitation. Slender Wheatgrass is shade, salt and alkali tolerant. Grows up to 13,000 ft in elevation. Stems have a characteristic reddish to purplish tinge at the base. Best suited for pastures when grown with longer-lived species.
