A long-lived, high-producing, bunchgrass. Can grow to 3-4’ tall in elevations up to 10,000ft. It has been cultivated in the United States since colonial days. One of the earliest species to start growing in the spring. Will not tolerate flooding for extended periods. Paiute and Profile are the more drought tolerant varieties and can persist on as little as 12” of precipitation
